A refrigerated trailer is sometimes referred to as a refrigerated truck trailer or an ice trailer. Refrigerated trailers are large vans often used by manufacturers and distributors for hauling freight and finished goods in and out of warehouses and cold storage facilities. Refrigerated trailers feature a metal roof, a freezer compartment below the vehicle’s roof, and a refrigerator on the front end. Refrigerated trailers also frequently have an emergency compartment that contains lighting, emergency instruments, water, and food supplies.

A refrigerated trailer is a large van designed specifically to store and deliver perishable goods in a climate-controlled, cool environment. Refrigerated Trailers, for the most part, are the modern version of an ice cream van. Refrigerated trailers feature an ice cube tray or freezer on the front end along with shelves and storage compartments above the open front side of the cargo area. The main storage area will feature freezer compartments that hold over two hundred pounds of goods. Refrigerated trailers can accommodate refrigerated sections up to a total length of about 53 feet.

Refrigerated trucks and trailers are commonly used to move perishable goods in and out of warehouses and cold storage facilities. Refrigerated trucks can be refrigerated vans with a capacity of up to five tons or more, whereas a Refrigerated trailer is only capable of holding a capacity of a maximum of forty tons. Refrigerated trailers are commonly used for the transportation of livestock, but can also be used to haul any other type of product or material, depending on the specific needs of the customer. Refrigerated trailers are commonly used by manufacturers and distributors to transport food and other products. Thus, expanding food & beverage industry is augmenting growth of the refrigerated trailer market.
